Obituary
An old resident of Binda passed away in Sydney recently when Mr. John Ingilby Webster, retired grazier, of 49 Woolwich Street, Hunter's Hill, died at the age of 81 years. Mr. Webster was for many years a church warden at St. James Church of England, Binda, where he had been a renowned church worker during his long residence as a grazier in that district, where his home was known as "Hyde Park." Prior to his death, Mr. Webster suffered an illness extending over two years, during which time he was ministered to by Rev. Smee who made a special trip to Binda to assist at the last rites in company with Rev. Pickburn, Rector of Blnda, and Rev. Canon Nell, Rector of Crookwell and formerly of Binda. The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of Binda Cemetery. At the church service, Rev. Smee stated that the late gentleman was one of the best Christians he had met during his clerical life and spoke very highly of him. Born at "Cargrave," Binda. Mr. Webster married at Binda in 1894, his wife surviving him. He leaves a number of sons and daughters. The daughters are Mona Erma (Sydney), Constance Louisa (Sydney), Temperance (Sydney) and sons Cecil Edward (Wheeo), Charles (Crookwell), Harry (Grabben Gullen) and Jack (Sydney). One daughter (Kathleen Wright) predeceased him. In his younger days Mr. Webster was fond of cricket and tennis and was a noted horseman. He had a kindly disposition and will be long remembered by the Binda folk.
