Obituary
By the death of Mr. John Brown, farmer and orchardist, which took place on Monday morning last, Parkesbourne has lost one of its oldest residents. Mr. Brown at the time of his death had attained the ripe old age of 79 years, and his connection with the Parkesbourne district goes back to the earliest days, he being amongst the first selectors in the locality. He had not been in good health for some time past, and for upwards of two years was unable to leave the house, but during his long illness he received the unremitting care and attention of his unmarried son and daughter, who lived with him. He was a man held in the highest esteem by all those who know him or came in contect with him for his sterling and uprighrt charactor.
His wife died some three years ago, but he is survived by four sons and four daughters. His eldest son, Mr. William Brown, resides at Exeter, but the other sons are settled in the district. Three of the daughters are married. 'The funeral took place on Tuesday and was very largely attended, many residents from Goulburn being present. He was buried in the Methodist cemetery attoched to the local church, and as the house is close by the coffin was carried to the church and then to the grave. The burial service opened in the church and concluded at the grave. It was conducted by Rev. M. Reavley, assisted by Rev. J. Woodhouse. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. R. Sidney Craig.
