Obituary
The death occurred at Mosman on August 3rd of John Joseph Walker, at the age of 88 years. Born at St. Albans, on the Hawkesbury River, the late Mr. Walker spent the greater part of his life in that district, fruit and maize farming.
He came to Moorebank in 1912 to take up grape growing, but the Federal Government resumed his property the following year for military purposes. He went to Wetherill Park in 1914 and resided there until 1938. He had been blind for the past 16½ years. Mr. Walker leaves six daughters and one son. His wife predeceased him 12 years ago. A keen supporter of the Church of England, Mr. Walker donated the ground on which the church at Wetherill Park now stands.
The funeral took place on Monday, August 8th, preceded by a service at the Church of England, Wetherill Park, conducted by Rev. S. A. Turner. The interment was at Smithfield cemetery.
