John Mabbott (60), station overseer at Eastern Plains, 12 miles from Guyra, died at Eastern Plains about 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, states a Guyra message.

Deceased had been in ill-health since his wife died four years ago and was said to have suffered periods of depression. On Tuesday afternoon he took ill and his daughter put him to bed and summoned a doctor.

The Coroner (Mr. A. A. Brown), Sergt. Sewell and Dr. J. D. Russell (Government medical officer) viewed the body. An inquiry will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 30 o'clock.

Sons and daughters, of deceased are Mrs. A. Holder (Inverell). Miss Doris Mabbott (Guyra), Messrs. Thomas (Sydney). William (Hillgrove), Frederick (Sydney), and Roy, Reginald and Louis Mabbott (Guyra).

The funeral took place to the Church of England portion of the Armidale cemetery on Wednesday afternoon after service in St. Peter's Cathedral.
