Biography
Married "first, the Lady Isabel Montgomerie, daughter of Hugh, first Earl of Eglinton, and secondly, Christian, daughter of Ninian, Lord Ross, of Hawkhead, a papal dispensation for which match, as within the prohibited degree, was obtained from the see of Glasgow, in 1538. The Laird of Caldwell had (with younger children) two sons,
"I. John (Sir), his heir.
"II. William, who received the lands, and founded the house of Glanderstoun, long a distinct Renfrewshire family, of the first respectability."

Confusingly, perhaps, thePeerage.com says (referring to volume XI, page 157, of The Complete Peerage):
- Ninian Ross, 3rd Lord Ross of Halkhead was the son of John Ross, 2nd Lord Ross of Halkhead. He married Janet Stewart, daughter of Matthew Stuart, 2nd Earl of Lennox, before 15 November 1515. He married by contract, secondly, Elizabeth Ruthven, daughter of William Ruthven, 1st Lord Ruthven and Isabel Livingstone, on 12 December 1540. He died circa February 1555/56.
