John Ponsonby was born 29 March 1713 to Brabazon Ponsonby, 1st Earl of Bessborough (1679-1758) and Sarah Margetson (c1689-1733) and died 16 August 1787 of unspecified causes. He married Elizabeth Cavendish (1723-1796) 23 September 1743 .
