Biography[]
Is looks like he married a Colby cousin and then resided in Lake Village, New Hampshire.
He received his early education in the district schools in his native town and at New London Academy, and at an early age began teaching in the public schools. The same years he was bookkeeper for an industry at Lake Village, and at length embarked in business for himself as a manufacturer of bedsteads, with his factory in Lake Village. He removed to Haverhill, but after living in that city two years he returned to Lake Village, where he resided until his death in 1858.
He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

- Carrie E Colby, b Jan 1856, Still alive on 1930 US Census, never married.
- John A Colby (1858-1918) - Banker - note quite a few census records showing him living with his sister and his widowed mother. Neither were ever married.
