John Rouse was born 1615 in England to Ambrose Rouse (1575-) and Maudlyn Osborn (1573-) and died 16 December 1684 Marshfield, Plymouth County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Annis Pabodie (c1616-1680) 1639 in Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
Biography[]
John Rouse, Sr was born by about 1615 (based on estimated date of marriage). Servant who came to Plymouth Colony in 1634 & settled in Marshfield. (When the bounds of the town of Marshfield were drawn on 7 June 1642, care was taken to include "the lands of John Rowse.") Died in Marshfield 16 December 1684.
Marriage and Family[]
Married by 1640 Annis Paybody, daughter of JOHN PAYBODY {1637, Duxbury} (in his will of 16 July 1649, "John Paybody of Duxburrow" included bequests to "Annis Rouse my daughter" and to "John Rouse the son of John Rouse."
Pope stated that this immigrant "had license to marry 7 January 1638-9." On 7 January 1638/9, Plymouth Colony court records tell us that "John Rowe is allowed to marry, and to have a garden place by Scittuate Path, about Goodman Godfraye's." Only two other records have been found in Plymouth Colony for John Rowe, both of which are associated with the town of Duxbury. Source: Anderson's great Migration Study Project
