John Thomas Carpenter was born 18 November 1877 in Yass, New South Wales, Australia to John Dowstow Carpenter (1841-1924) and Harriett Burgess (1846-1908) and died 13 March 1941 Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Clara Matilda Bush (1875-1959) 30 June 1906 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia.

Obituary
The death took place in Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, on March 13 of Mr. John Thomas Carpenter, at the age of 63 years. Deceased was born in Yass and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Carpenter.
He resided here till about 12 years ago when he moved to Queanbeyan.
Three months ago he went to Sydney for treatment. His remains were cremated at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium.
He leaves a widow, three sons and four daughters, of whom Fred and Douglas reside in Queanbeyan, and the other son, Ralph, in Sydney. The daughters are Mesdames Hann (Northbridge), Cameron (Sydney), O'Brien (Burrowa), and Miss Nancy Carpenter (Sydney). There are seven grandchildren.
Deceased is also survived by two brothers, Alfred and Walter (Yass) and one sister, Mrs. A. Dean (Sydney).
