John Thomas Hoyt was born 25 July 1689 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts to Thomas Hoyt (1669-c1739) and Elizabeth Huntington (1669-1721) and died 5 September 1757 Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Sarah Barnard (1700-1747) 22 August 1723 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.
(65) I. John (Capt.), born July 25, 1689; married Sarah Barnard, Aug. 22, 1723 (157); died 1757. He and his two brothers, Jacob* and Timothy, were living in the West Parish in 1726. Perhaps he settled near where Moses now lives, on "Tucker Hill," formerly called "Hoyt Hill." He was a member of the 2nd or West Amesbury church Oct. 9, 1726, and his wife Sarah joined it, Dec. 10, 1726. Lieut. John Hoyt was chosen deacon of that church March 10, 1740. A John Hoyt was selectman in 1719 and 1733, "Deacon John' in 1742, and Capt. John in 1744. "Lieut. John" was moderator in 1742. Will dated March 26, 1757, proved Sept. 5, 1757. His widow, Sarah, was living in 1761.
