He married Dorcas Hopkins (1660-1695) 11 May 1681 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. He married Mary Judd (1668-1698) 2 January 1696 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut, United States.
Biography
Jonathan Webster, sometimes given title of Deacon, was born on 9 Jan 1656/7 in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut to Lt. Robert and Susannah (Treat) Webster. He moved with his parents to Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut, where they associated with the new Second Church of Hartford. He was married to Dorcas or Dorcus Hopkins, a daughter of Stephen Hopkins, on 11 May 1681 in Hartford. A merchant in Hartford, he and his wife were admitted into the Second Church in Hartford on 17 Mar 1695, and she died during that year. On 2 Jan 1696, Jonathon married his second wife, Mary Judd, in Hartford.
At a meeting of the Governor and Council at New Haven, CT on 8 Aug 1711, there was allowed to Jonathan Webster of Hartford, among others, the sum of seven shillings and once pence to help supply an expedition.
Jonathan Webster died in 1735, probably in Hartford, at the age of 78. His second wife Mary lived beyond that date but the date of her death is not known. His will is dated 7 Apr 1732, three years before his death. In his will he mentioned his daughters Susanna Steele, Mary Brace, Mehitabel Bidwell, and his sons Jonathan, Benjamin, and the heirs of his son Stephen. Samuel was omitted and Benjamin was the child of his second marriage. His son Jonathan was named as executor of the will.
