Obituary

MR. JOSEPH D. CRAMP

After a short illness, Mr. Joseph David Cramp, of Diadem Street, Lismore, died in hospital in Lismore yesterday morning. Born in Grafton in 1861, Mr. Cramp was apprenticed to the late A. E. Francis, bootmaker. When a young man he came to Lismore to work for Mr. A. E. Francis, junr. He later managed a branch of Mr. Francis' business in Ballina. Some 40 years ago he started a bootmaking business of his own in Woodlark Street, Lismore, and later in Keen Street. He went to Byron Bay, where he remained for three years, subsequently returning to his Lismore business, now being carried on in Woodlark Street by his sons. In addition to the widow, he is survived by four sons, Ernie, Bart and Eric (Limore) and Joe (West Wallsend); three daughters, Mrs. O'Connor (Summer Hill, Sydney), Mrs. Lawrence (Lismore) and Mrs. Cornish (Karangi); also 21 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The funeral will leave St. Carthage's Cathedral at 3 o'clock this afternoon for the Roman Catholic portion of Lismore cemetery.
