"Joseph Stowell lived at Winchester N.H. and was a physician. He was one of seven men sent to represent the town at the formation of the state. He was a signer to the petition to secure the charter for the town of Lancaster, N. H. Joseph Stowell was one of the signers to the petition against Great Britain in Winchester, N. H., June 3, 1776".
Joseph died on 29 Feb. 1812 at Winchester, New Hampshire.
