Joshua Pickard was born in 1824. He was a farmer and lumberman. He bought land from Joseph and Huldah Pickard, two acres on Pickard Street, Town of Ellery. (Liber 98, pg. 477, for $100, also another 40 acres for $1,200 at the same time Liber, 106, pg, 13/3/12). The funeral of Joshua Pickard was held from the Pickard Street Methodist Church, Monday afternoon October 12, at 1 p.m. Reverend A. L. LeRoy officiated. Music by Mrs. Mervin Pickard and Miss Jessie Baker. Bearers were: Mervin Pickard, Walter Joslyn, Andrew Nelson and George Baker. Among those in attendance were Adam Smedly and Mrs. Janie Smedly of Saybrooke, Pa., Mrs. R. A. White of Binghamton, Miss. Eva Daltymplye of Sinclairville, Leon Pickard of Jamestown, A. Harrington of Falconer, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Joslyn of Jamestown and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Pickard of Jamestown. Burial was in Red Bird Cemetery. Joshua and other Pickards are listed in the History Collections of Sheffield, Warren County, Pennsylvania. After Sally’s death, sister-in-law, Mrs. Susan Waite, born 1839, resided with Joshua as his housekeeper. He left his property to her.
