He married John Murdock (1792-1871) 14 December 1823 in Mentor, Lake County, Ohio.

Julia Clapp was the first wife of famous Mormon pioneer John Murdock (1792-1871) and followed him in embracing the Mormon Religion when they were living in Ohio. She died immediately after giving birth to twins in early May 1831. John would remarry several times in his life.
