Biography
Juliette Fullmer was born 20 August 1851 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, United States to David Fullmer (1803-1879) and Sarah Sophronia Oysterbanks (1822-1906) and died 18 February 1879 Marysvale, Piute County, Utah, United States of unspecified causes. She married John Solomon Fullmer (1846-1898) 1 January 1868 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah.
uliette Fullmer was the third of nine children born to David Fullmer and Sarah Sophronia Banks. She was born on 20 August 1851 in Salt Lake City following her parents’ exodus from Nauvoo, Illinois, to the Rocky Mountains. She was raised in Salt Lake City during the time when the City was little more than a collection of wooden shacks separated by wide, muddy streets. Neverthe-less, she was raised in a faithful Latter Day Saint home with a large number of younger children and soon learned how to work.
Early in her life, she became acquainted with her Springville relatives - especially her first cousin John Solomon Fullmer, Jr. The two were attracted to one another and a romance ensued.. Thus, on New Years Day, 1868, when she was only 16 ½ years old, she married John, Jr. in a civil ceremony in Salt Lake City. He was the eldest son of John S. Fullmer and his first wife, Mary Ann Price, and was 21 years old when they married. Fourteen months later, on 2 March 1869, when Juliette was expecting her first child, they received their endowments and were sealed to each other in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City. Thus, the five children born to them were all born in the covenant. They were Minnie, John Price, David, Sidney Tanner, and Arthur F. David and Arthur died as infants, but the other three children were raised in the Church, married, and received their temple endowments.
Apparently, Juliette lived in Springville with her husband for the first seven years of their married life as their first three children were born there. John, Jr.’s occupation while there is not known but it is expected that he farmed. Juliette raised the children and cared for the home. In about 1875, however, they moved to Beaver, Utah, where Sidney Tanner was born, then to Marysville, Utah, where Arthur F. was born. What caused them to relocate from Springville is not known but it appears that some of their relatives had previously settled in Marysville.
Four years later, while they were still living in Marysville, Juliette died and was buried next to her infant son, Arthur, in the Dennis Family Cemetery, which is located 3 miles south of Marysville on a small knoll next to the highway. Her death occurred on 18 February 1879 when she was only 28 years old. The cause of her death is not known.
