Konrad I. von Oldenburg, Graf von Oldenburg, was born circa 1313 in Schloss Oldenburg, Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, Germany to Johann II. von Oldenburg (c1270-1316) and Elisabeth von Lüneburg (-bef1299) and died 1347 of unspecified causes. He married Ingeborg von Holstein-Plön (c1316-aft1349) .

Conrad I was the Count of Oldenburg from 1344 to 1347. He succeeded his brother, John III of Oldenburg.

He was the son of Johann II. von Oldenburg (c1270-1316) and Elisabeth von Lüneburg (-bef1299).[1]

Marriage and Issue

Conrad married Ingeborg, the daughter of Count Gerhard IV of Holstein-Plön. They had four children:

  1. Conrad II, Count of Oldenburg (died 1401) - Graf von Oldenburg in Oldenburg. He founded St Lambert's in Oldenburg 1377[95]. m KUNIGUNDE, daughter of ---. 1367. Konrad [II] & his wife had four children
  2. Gerard of Oldenburg (died 1368);[2] killed in action while invading Rüstringen. killed in battle near Koldewärf 20 Jul 1368). Graf 1355
  3. Agnes of Oldenburg; married Count Ludwig von Winstorf
  4. Christian V. von Oldenburg (c1342-1423) - successor as Count of Oldenburg.

Schloss Oldenburg (AKA: Oldenburg palace) is based a medieval lowland castle that was built around 1100 by the Counts of Oldenburg to control a long-distance trade route from Westphalia to East Frisia. It has long served as the seat of power for the historic House of Oldenburg. The earliest recorded occupants were Egilmar I von Oldenburg (c1040-1108) and his wife, Richenza von Dithmarschen (c1045-c1092).
