He married Johanne Lauridsdatter (1671-1747) 4 June 1699 in Hjortdal, Vester Han, Denmark.

- Note: At this point in the pedigree the church records of both Torup and Hjortdal end, yet the tree on Family Tree and this AQ database show two more generations, indicating that Lars (Lauridtz) Christensen’s parents were Christen Mortensen and Mette Lauridtzdatter of Hjortdal parish. The name of his father was likely taken from Lars’ betrothal record, and the name of his mother apparently comes from her death record, in which it states that Mette was the wife of Christen Mortensen.
- While this may be the correct line, it is just as likely that Lars was actually from Torup parish as stated in his betrothal record, and that another Christen Mortensen lived in that parish who was his father. Names are very common in Denmark and it is easy to assume that a person is the ancestor unless extreme care is taken. The earliest records in Denmark are probate, land, and tax records, and these will need to be examined for Torup parish before a determination can be made as to the next generation.
