Obituary

Mrs. ERNEST JOHN ROSE

Mrs Lucy Ann Rose, wife of Mr. Ernest Rose, peacefully passed away at her home in Warialda at 6.30 a.m. yesterday after many months of ill-health

Born at Singleton in 1866, deceased was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. Jas. Rose of Windsor. She was married (without changing her surname) at Bingara, and for 12 years thereafter she lived at Myall Creek Station where her husband was employed. On leaving Myall Creek Mr. and Mrs. Rose went to Gournama where they remained for six years. In 1900 they came to Warialda, and have resided here ever since

Endowed with a kind and generous disposition and a desire at all times to help those in need, the late Mrs. Rose was held in high esteem by all with whom she came in contact, and when her own turn came to seek solace from others she bore her troubles with great fortitude and the same consideration for those around her

Besides her husband (who is 82 years of age), a family of seven daughters and four sons survive, viz. Mrs. J. Hillier (Tamworth), Mrs. T. Kellett (Warialda), Mrs. J. Phillips (Warialda), Mrs. W. Ryan (Taree), Mrs. H. Townsend (Delungra), Mrs. C. Sweeney (Warialda), and Mrs. H. Holland (Kingsford) ; Messrs James (Townsville), George (Tamworth), Norman and William (Warialda).

A fifth son (Arthur) died in Inverell a short time ago. A brother and a sister also survive, Mr. Fred Rose (Warialda) and Mrs. M. Dodd (Young)

The funeral took place from the Church of England late on Sunday afternoon, Rev. P. A. Smith conducting the service in the church and at the graveside
