Obituary

Death of Mr Luke Burgess

The death occurred yesterday of Mr Luke Henry Burgess, one of the older residents of the district. The cause was the prevailing colds, which he caught in an acute form. At one time Mr Burgess and his family lived on the Murrumbidgee, but for years past their home has been at Yellow Creek, Coolalie Road. His wife died over a year ago. He leaves a grown-up family of five daughters and four sons. Two of the married daughters live in Yass, and one single girl at her home. One daughter lives in Sydney, and one in New Zealand. The sons are well known residents of southern districts.
The late Mr Burgess was 82 years of age, and a fine sample of the old and stalwart colonists. He leaves a great many relatives and friends, and his death is greatly regretted by all.
The funeral takes place to-morrow afternoon, Messrs Pearce and Burden being the undertakers.
