Margaret Adair was born 7 February 1804 in Laurens County, South Carolina to Thomas Adair (1774-1858) and Rebecca Brown (1776-1846) and died 10 February 1852 Manti, Sanpete County, Utah of unspecified causes. She married William Richey (1796-1879) 10 February 1820 in Pickens, Pickens County, Alabama.

Biogrpahy

In Noxubee County, Mississippi their family joined the Buttahatchie 1845 LDS Branch of the young LDS Church.

In April 18, 1845, she appeared before John Smith (1781-1854), 4th presiding patriarch of the church for her patriarchal blessing in Nauvoo, Illinois.

1848, part of the Willard Richards Wagon Train to Salt Lake City. By now she had some reputation for skill with medicine. The following entry appears in the diary of Caroline Crosby Barnes:

"Yesterday I invited sister Riettchie [Richey] a doctry women to come in and see me. She thought she co[uld] help me if she could find the roots she wanted but ap[peared] she could not."
