Margaret "Grizel" Boyd was born 1468 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland to Thomas Boyd, Earl of Arran (c1441-1473) and Mary Stewart, Countess of Arran (1453-1488) and died 9 February 1516 Dunure, Ayrshire, Scotland of unspecified causes. She married Alexander Forbes, 4th Lord Forbes (1469-1491) 1490 JL in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She married David Kennedy, 1st Earl of Cassilis (1463-1513) 1510 JL in Ayrshire, Scotland.
Family
Lady Grisel or Margaret Boyd (she is called Grizel in the genealogies, but appears as Margaret in the Registers of the Great Seal, and in the Papal Dispensation, etc.). She was born between 1468 and 1473, and was married twice: first, to Alexander Forbes, 4th Lord Forbes, who died without issue before 16 May 1491; and secondly, before 9 August 1509, as the second wife to Sir David Kennedy, 3rd Lord Kennedy, then created Earl of Cassilis, who died without issue by her at Flodden on 9 September 1513. By her marriage to Sir David Kennedy, she had no descendants.
2nd Marriage: David Kennedy
After Agnes died David Kennedy, 1st Earl of Cassilis (1463-1513) married Margaret Boyd, widow of Alexander Forbes and daughter of Sir Thomas Boyd, Earl of Arran and Mary Stewart, Countess of Arran, daughter of King James II of Scotland, but they had no children. Margaret Boyd is sometimes confused with Marion Boyd, daughter of Thomas Boyd, 6th Earl of Arran[dubious – discuss] who was born 69 years after David died.
