Margaret Sanford Hutchinson was born 10 June 1716 in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island to William Sanford (1690-1721) and Griselda Silvester (1692-1749) and died 12 March 1753 Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. She married Thomas Hutchinson (1711-1780) 1731 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

Biography

Margaret Sanford married Thomas Hutchinson (1711-1780) who would become the famous loyalist governor of Massachusetts. They were second cousins - both Great-Grand children of famous early American colonists William Hutchinson (1586-1641) and Anne Marbury (1591-1643) - See the listing -Francis Marbury List of Famous Descendants.

Marriage & Family

In 1734 he married Margaret Sanford (1716-1754), a granddaughter of Rhode Island Governor Peleg Sanford. The Sanford and Hutchinson families had a long history of business and personal connections; Margaret was in fact a distant relative. The Marriage secured a political alliance between Hutchinson and Andrew and Peter Oliver which lasted long after Margaret's death. The couple had twelve children, only five of whom survived to adulthood, before Margaret died in 1754 from complications of childbirth.
