Maria Turnbull was born 12 June 1877 in March, New South Wales, Australia to John Pott Turnbull (1834-1912) and Elizabeth Griffiths (1844-1915) and died 11 January 1952 Wallsend, New South Wales, Australia of stroke. She married Richard Cottier (1861-1926) 12 June 1901 in Wesleyan Church, March, New South Wales, Australia.
