Mary Ann Gill was born 30 September 1824 in Beckley, Sussex, England, United Kingdom to William Gill (1797-1869) and Susannah Creed (c1800-1887) and died 9 January 1907 Monkerai, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. She married Edward Hicks (1820-1896) 31 December 1841 in Raymond Terrace, New South Wales, Australia.
She emigrated on 24 June 1838 from Gravesend on the Maitland, with her parents and brothers and sisters, arriving in Sydney on 6 November 1838.
