Mary Ann Gill was born 20 November 1831 in Beckley, Sussex, England, United Kingdom to Silas Gill (1806-1875) and Mercy Catt (1808-1885) and died 12 June 1920 Kurri Kurri, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. She married William Wellard (1817-1896) 12 November 1849 in Presbyterian Church of Scotland, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
She arrived in New South Wales on 11 October 1837 on the Augusta Jessie with her parents.

Obituary
There passed away on Saturday afternoon, 12th June, Mrs. Mary Ann Wellard, aged 88 years and 8 months. Her husband, William Wellard, predeceased her 25 years. She came to Australia when ony six years of age. A native of Sussex, England, she spent the greater part of her life in our sunny land. She was married 71 years ago in Sydney by the Rev. Gillerston. She leaves behind her six sons:—Frank, who lives at Stewart's Point, Kempsey; Thomas and Henry, of Mulbring; Alfred, Dorrigo; David, Dora Creek; and Arthur, of Wangi Wangi; and one daughter, Mrs. W. Avery, of Kurri Kurri. Besides these she leaves 42 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
