Obituary
MRS. THOS. VIDLER
The death of Mary Ann Vidler, wife of Mr. Thomas Vidler, of Orion-street, Lismore, came as a shock to many of her friends. Though she had been in ill-health for many years, death was not expected so soon. She passed peacefully away (after a short illness) on January 24 at the District Hospital, and was buried in the Methodist portion of the cemetery. Pastor S. Tompkins (Baptist) assisted the Rev. A. F. Crapp at the graveside. A short service was held in the Methodist Church prior to the funeral. Five sons and five daughters are left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother. The sons are Herbert, Frederick, Leonard, Basil and Lyle, all of Sydney.
Daughters are Mrs. C. Marshall (Gundagai), Mrs. A. Arthur (Gunning), Mrs. W. Irvine (Yungaburra, Qld.), Mrs. S. Pressick and Mrs B. Bannister (Lismore).
Notes
- Some researchers have confused her with Mary Ann Tonkin (c1873-1923).
- One source gives her mother's surname as "Walpole": an anonymous contributor writes:
- Mary Anne Walpole and William Jackson did not have a daughter named Mary, many get this confused with a second William Jackson and a Mary Anne Batty, Mary Anne Walpole's death cert shows all her children to all her marriages Mary Anne who had children with William Jackson in the Newtown area is not Mary Anne Walpole
