She married John Adams (1803-1834) 1827 in The White House, Washington, D.C., United States.
Biography
Mary Catherine Hellen Adams was born in 1806 to Walter and Ann "Nancy" Johnson Hellen. Her grandparents were Joshua Johnson and Cathrien Nuch and her aunt, Louisa Catherine Johnson (1775-1852) married to John Quincy Adams (1767-1848), 6th President of the US.
Her husband died young and Mary became the caretaker of her elderly in-laws, John Quincy and Aunt Louisa. She later died in 1870 aged 64.
Marriage and Family
John Adams II, his older brother George and his younger brother Charles] were all rivals for the same woman, their cousin Mary Catherine Hellen, who lived with the John Quincy Adams family after the death of her parents. In 1828 John married Mary Hellen at a ceremony in the White House, and both his brothers refused to attend.
John Adams II and Mary Hellen were the parents of two daughters, Mary Louisa (December 2, 1828 - July 16, 1859) and Georgiana Frances (September 10, 1830 - November 20, 1839).
