Maurice FitzJohn FitzGerald was born circa 1225 in Ireland to John FitzGerald (c1200-1261) and Margery FitzThomas (c1205-1261) and died 23 July 1261 Battle of Callann of battle wounds. He married Mathilda de Barry (c1225-1293) 1250 JL in Ireland.

Maurice fitz John was the son of John FitzGerald (c1200-1261), 1st Baron Desmond, and together they both died on 23 July 1261 at Callan, County Kerry, Ireland, killed in action in an encounter with the MacCarthys of Carbery. The title "Baron of Desmond" therefore skipped him and passed to his son Thomas.

Marriage and Family

He married Mathilda de Barry, daughter of Sir John Barry, 2nd Lord Barry and Beatrice (?).3
