Maurits van Oranje, Prince of Orange, Count of Nassau, Baron of Breda, Stadtholder of Holland, Stadtholder of Zeeland, Stadtholder of Utrecht, Stadtholder of Gelderland, Stadtholder of Overijssel, was born 14 November 1567 in Dillenburg to Willem van Oranje (1533-1584) and Anna von Sachsen (1544-1577) and died 23 April 1625 The Hague of unspecified causes.
Maurice led the Dutch rebellion after his father's death. Maurice never married but had 13 known children, of whom the eldest 3 sons were recognised as counts of Nassau but, as catholics, not Orange.
