In 1277 he took part in the campaign of Khan Mengu-Timur on the Caucasian jars , and in July of the following year he married the younger daughter of the Prince of Yaroslavl Fyodor Rostislavich, in the capital city of which the wedding took place with a large gathering of princes and boyars. Having inherited the Principality of Beloozero after the death of his father, Prince Mikhail stayed there for a very short time, since his cousin, Dmitri Borisovich, took advantage of Mikhail’s underage, took away his inheritance "with sin and great wickedness" in 1279. He died in the Horde during the summer of that year, and was buried in the Dormition Cathedral, Rostov.
