Pvt Milton Kelley was born 12 November 1807 in Bracken, Kentucky to Henry Kelley (1790-1839) and Catherine Hunt (1788-1832) and died 4 November 1846 Pueblo Pintado, McKinley County, New Mexico of pneumonia.
Biography
Milton was a private in Company A of The Mormon Battalion. His wife marched with their company. It appears that both he and his wife were related to Jefferson Hunt (1803-1879), the company captain.
Milton died (pneumonia ?) with the sick detachment at Pueblo Pintado in New Mexico while they were marching north to Colorado. His wife gave birth to a daughter, Catherine Malinda Kelley (1847-1899), shortly afterwards at the campsite of the Mormon Battalion Sick Detachment in Pueblo, Colorado.
