Mstislav Izyaslavich of Novgorod was born 1046 to Izyaslav I Yaroslavich of Kiev (1024-1078) and Gertrude of Poland (c1025-1108) and died 1069 of unspecified causes.

Mstislav Izyaslavich (died 1069 [1]) - Prince of Novgorod (1054 - 1067), Polotsk ( 1069 ), son of Izyaslav Yaroslavich.

In 1054, after the death of Yaroslav the Wise , the prince of Novgorod Izyaslav became the grand prince of Kiev, and his son Mstislav became prince of Novgorod.

In 1065, prince Vseslav of Polotsk, nicknamed the Wizard, attacked Pskov.[2] Some researchers suggest that the attacks on Pskov and Novgorod were caused, by Vseslav's desire to revenge the destruction of Polotsk in 980. which kept under siege, but could not take. In 1067, on the banks of the Cheryokha River, he defeated the army of Prince Mstislav Izyaslavich and took Novgorod[2]. Novgorod was half burned. Vseslav captured the prisoners and removed the bells from the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Novgorod, taking with him the treasures of the Novgorod churches[2]Later, in the same year (1067), Vseslav was caught by Izyaslav, Svyatoslav and Vsevolod and imprisoned in Kiev with two of his sons[3]. After that Mstislav fled to Kiev to his father.

It is also known that when his father Izyaslav was returning from Poland in 1069, he sent Mstislav ahead to Kiev, where Mstislav inflicted reprisals on the instigators of the uprising, and the perpetrators of the expulsion of his father Izyaslav Yaroslavich interrupted or blinded.
