Nathaniel Wight was born 12 September 1678 in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts to Ephraim Wight (1645-1722) and Lydia Morse (1645-1722) . He married Sarah Ellis (1687-1705) 3 March 1703 in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. He married Mehitable Hinsdale (1687-1743) 30 December 1706 in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.

Nathaniel Wight was one of the founders of the town of Medway in 1713, and was a selectman in 1715 and 1717. He resided in the southern part of the Old Grant, on the Old Mendon Road not far from the Charles River. In 1721, he purchased a large tract of land in what is now Thompson, a portion of the first land laid out in northeastern CN in 1684.

He was the first purchaser of land in the neighborhood of Killingly, CN. He sold one or two small parcels but must have retained the larger portion for many years. This land was then debatable ground but was claimed as a part of Killingly. Nathaniel is believed to have removed to this land about the time of his purchase. In 1728, when Thompson Parish of Killingly was erected, Nathaniel was one of 16 residents whose standing allowed them to be voted as pew owners of the meeting house.

He doesn't appear to have been prominent in the affairs of the parish, and perhaps was at this time and before, a Baptist, as no Wights' baptisms appear on church records. In 1735 and 1743, he and his wife deeded Killingly land to their son, Levi. In 1743, Nathaniel, his wife, and children, Eliphalet, Levi, and John (all of Killingly, CN) quit claimed by deed to Ephraim Wheelock of Medfield, all interest in certain Medfield lands.

Between 1743 and 1768, Nathaniel and Mehetabel died. In 1768, an agreement among the Wight heirs about a division of their father's farm appears on Killingly records. Levi, having previously received his share of the estate, took no part, and the contracting parties are simply Eliphalet, Sarah, and Deborah. Eliphalet renounced all rights to the north half of the farm and house. The absence of John in this agreement is unexplained.
