Newtyle is a former "town", now a collection of rural buildings in Foveran Parish, about 8 miles north of the Bridge of Don, just east of the A90, and south-east of the A975. Modern maps may show "Newtyle House", just north of Dykenook, "Newtyle" about 700 metres due east of it with its own road off the road to Drums, "Mains of Newtyle" close to the Drums road near where a 1940s map showed a church, and "Newtyle Croft" further north near Montammo.

It was, for a time, the home of Alexander Skene of Newtyle (1621-aft1679), a cadet of the Skenes of Skene. He bought it from Sir Alexander Forbes of Foveran in 1657 and sold it, subject to liferents, in 1680. One of his sons became a governor in New Jersey.
