Oliver Edwin Turnbull was born 30 August 1889 in Craigie, New South Wales, Australia to Robert Turnbull (1848-1926) and Jane Burnett (1855-1941) and died 22 May 1915 Gallipoli campaign of killed in action.





The Roll of Honor.

Mrs Walter Gilbert, Bowral, received the sad news last week that her brother, Private Oliver Turnbull, had been killed in action at the Dardanelles on May 22nd.

Deceased, who was 26 years of age, formerly lived at Burrawang and Avoca, and was well known and greatly esteemed throughout the Wingecarribee portion of the district, where he was a popular favorite, and his untimely end in the defence of his country will be deplored by a wide circle of friends, while sincere sympathy is felt for the bereaved family. He was the second youngest son of Mr. Robert Turnbull, J.P, Macksville, Nambucca River, who also lost an elder son in the South African war.

Another son, Allan, who was wounded at the Dardanelles and has been in hospital at Manchester, has now rejoined his battalion at the front.
