Constable Orlando Bagley was born 18 February 1658 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts to Orlando Bagley (1623-1663) and Sarah Colby (1634-1663) and died 13 January 1727 Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Sarah Sargent (1651-1701) 22 December 1681 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. He married Sarah Annis (1666-1729) 25 March 1704 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.


Orlando was a yeoman, an ensign in Lt Caleb Moody's Company in 1708, signed the oath of allegiance, Dec. 20, 1677, signed a training band petition in 1680, was a freeman in 1690, was constable in Amesbury, and occupied the third row in the meetinghouse, where, it was voted "only important men could sit," and settled in the Sargent homestead near Academy lot in Amesbury (Ames, Massachusetts). As Constable, on May 2, 1692, he brought Susanna Martin, widow, of Amesbury, to Salem Village, where she was executed for witchcraft. She was said to have been a friend of long standing. After death of his first wife, Orlando came into possession of her estate, her children releasing to the father all their "Right, Title and Interest to all ye Housing, Lands, Meadows, Orchards, and other Estate Bequeathed by William Sargent to his daughter Sarah Sargent, now deceased, formerly "ye wife of said Orlando Bagley." (Essex Co. MA).

In 1712, he conveyed to his sons, Orlando Bagley, Junior, and John Bagley, "Partly of natural affection which I do bear unto them, and partly of ye sume of seventy pounds" his farm at Pond Hills, the eastern part to go to Orlando and the western half to John (Ames MA). His will was made 12 Feb, 1723/24, proved 6 Jan, 1728/1729; inventory dated Feb 21, 1728/29, in sum of 939 pounds, 10 shillings. Mentioned in will are wife Sarah, who was sole executor, sons: Benjamin, Orlando John, Jacob & Joseph; daughters Sarah Weed, Judith Carter, Anne Bagley and Hanah Bagley (Essex Co. MA Probate). Ref.
