Paula Horthy de Nagybanya was born 11 August 1903 in Pula, Istria County, Croatia to Miklós Horthy (1868-1957) and Magdolna Purgly (1881-1959) and died 26 June 1940 Budapest, Hungary of unspecified causes. She married László Fáy (1890-1937) 3 April 1922 in Budapest, Hungary. She married Gyula Károlyi (1907-1942) 14 November 1930 in Budapest, Hungary.
At the age of 19 she married László Fáy, a wealthy landowner. The marriage was not a happy one and they divorced a few years later.
Paulette Horthy fell ill with tuberculosis and spent several years in a sanatorium in Semmering. She subsequently went to Egypt for further treatment, but the change of climate did not improve her health. On 14 February 1930 she married Count Gyula Károlyi de Nagykároly, several years younger than her. Gyula Károlyi was a caring husband. He purchased a house in the Buda hills where she could be close to her family while living in an area with fresh air. However her condition deteriorated and towards the end she needed permanent medical attention.
She died on 26 Jun 1940 and was interred in the family crypt in Kenderes
