Penelepe Thompson Bleak Snow was born 14 December 1881 in St. George, Washington County, Utah, United States to James Godson Bleak (1829-1918) and Matilda Irene Thompson (1861-1936) and died 16 September 1910 St. George, Washington County, Utah, United States of unspecified causes. She married Leo Alva Snow (1881-1963) 18 November 1908 in St. George, Washington County, Utah, United States.
Penelope Thompson Bleak was born 14 December 1882 at St. George, Utah, a daughter of James Godson Bleak and Matilda Irene Thompson. Penelope was the oldest of Matilda's seven children. She was called Nellie by everyone rather than Penelope. She was given the middle name of Thompson, her mother's maiden name, as was traditional for polygamist families .
She was a beautiful girl and loved by all who knew her. She was a great help to her mother, she did a lot of book work and record keeping for her father. Penelope and her sisters, Emma and Kate would sing together on the wood pile of their home , especially in the evening.
Penelope went to school in St. George, then to the Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City, Utah. The girls wore long skirts to school. Cedar having such deep snow, Penelope would get her clothes very wet and frozen, then would sit in school all day with her skirts wet which didn't help her at all with good health.
Penelope was engaged to Leo Alva Snow for ten years. Leo was trying to get his education before they married but Penelope took very ill and Leo took her home to St. George in a wagon. As soon as she was well enough, they were married in the St. George Temple 24 November 1908. They were married almost two years when Penelope died in St. George, 16 September 1910 when she was 27 years 9 months 2 days old of an acute liver infection with the contributory cause of pregnancy. She was buried in the St. George City Cemetery.
