Pleasing to see that the definition is moving away from the awfully vague and somewhat misleading original "Refers to first name of a person". — Robin Patterson (Talk) 05:48, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

"First name" is the surname, not given name for one third of the world's population. The former wording was not misleading, it was just plain wrong. The technical description communicates to the intended audience. Those editing the characteristics of this property need to understand this technical description.
We do need layperson descriptions as described in Forum:Person_name_properties. I do not believe this is the place for them. ~ Phlox 09:40, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
