Rajecká Lesná (before 1927 Trstená-Frývald, from 1927 to 1948 Frývald-Trstená Hungarian: Frivaldnádas or Frivald, German: Friewald) is a village and commune in Žilina District in the Žilina Region of northern Slovakia. The commune was created by joining the villages Frývald und Trstená.
History[]
In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1474. Rajecka Lesna has been a place of pilgrimage since the 15th century. The greatest pilgrimage takes place on September 8th, the feast of Virgin Mary's Nativity.
Geography[]
The commune lies at an altitude of 513 metres and covers an area of 39.264km². It has a population of about 1300 people.
