The question of who his mother was is not universally agreed. Larson says it was Sanche Berenguer, while thePeerage says it was Jeanne de Valletort (and that the Richard born to Sanchia of Provence was born and died in 1246). Both are talking about the Richard who died at Berwick in 1296.
