Robert Welles was the only child to survive to adulthood of the marriage between Princess Cecily, daughter of Edward IV of England and her husband, the 1st Viscounte Welles.

  • I would like to suggest that Robert's parents were Cecily of York and Thomas Kyme, her great love. I have no evidence of this whatsoever, but it makes sense, and Cecily and Thomas did marry after John's death. It also might explain why Robert named a son Thomas.
