Robert Duyckinck, 80, of New Providence died yesterday in the Glenside Nursing Center in New Providence. A memorial service will be held at noon tomorrow in the Presbyterian Church at New Providence, 1307 Springfield Ave. Arrangements are by the Brough Funeral Home, Summit. Mr. Duyckinck had a 38-year career with the Hosokawa Micron of Summit, previously known as MikroPul and the Pulverizing Machinery Co. During his tenure with the firm, he worked as an engineer trainee, laboratory technician, sales laboratory manager and design engineer before becoming director of research and development in 1955 and technical director in 1969. He retired in 1989. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with Company I 405th Regiment of the 102nd Infantry Division. In 1944, he graduated from the Army Specialist Training Program in civil engineering. Mr. Duyckinck was then assigned to the Third Army and served 15 months in the European Theater with the 282nd Combat Engineering Battalion. He was awarded three bronze stars for Ardennes, Central, Europe and the Rhineland before being discharged in 1946 with the rank of sergeant. Mr. Duyckinck graduated from the Rutgers University college of engineering in 1947. Born in Roselle Park, he lived in New Providence for 43 years. Surviving are his wife, Lois; a son, Robert Jr.; a daughter, Lisa Duyckinck; a brother, Paul, and a granddaughter, Julia.
