Memory of Rowena Glazier
Contributed by Rowena Sherwood Glazier, daughter of Laurence Parker Sherwood
Ruth Rebecca Richey was my father's mother. She died before I was born, so all I know of her is what my father shared. He told me that she was a marvelous cook. My father helped cook Sunday dinners in our home, so he must have learned from his mother. Ruth was one of four sisters. Two of the sisters were alive when I was a child. She also had two older brothers who lived to maturity. Aunt Em, as she was called by my father, died when I was a young child, so I didn't know her either. Ruth's sister, Jemima Susana Richey, was alive during my youth. My father called her Aunt Sue, and I remember her as an old lady in St. Johns, Apache, Arizona. She seemed nice, but I never had any personal contact with her. I regret that, now that I understand better the value of family relationships.
