Bishop Samuel Allred Dies at Spring City (1932) SPRING CITY, Jan. 29 - Bishop Samuel Allred, 80, died Monday of infirmities due to advanced age. He was a pioneer of Utah and this section, having been born while his parents were coming across the plains of Iowa, June 3, 1851; he is a son of Isaac and Mary Henderson Allred. He was a Black-Hawk Indian war veteran, having stood guard and run pony express between SPring City and Ephraim during Indian troubles. A staunch church worker all his life, he has held many positions. He was a ward teacher for 44 years; a member of the high council of North Sanpete stake for nine years; a member of the first Sanpete stake Y.M.M.I.A.; stake presidency for 20 years. In 1913 he was made bishop of Spring City ward. he held this office for nearly 15 years. His two wives, Elizabeth D. Allred and Isabell Blain Allred both survive him. He has been married to his first wife 61 years and to his second wife 51 years. He is survived by five sons and three daughters: S.D. Allred, George Allred, Reid H. Allred of Spring City; I. Pratt Allred of Manti; S.S. Allred, Salt Lake City; Manett Allred, Nell Allred Nybery and Eva Erickson of Spring City; 31 grandchildren; also three sisters and one brother. The funeral wil(sic) be held in Spring City ward chapel at 1 p.m. Friday.
