He married Susannah Huntington (1668-1727) 10 December 1685 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut, United States. He married Hannah Backus (1676-1752) 18 November 1729 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut, United States.
Biography
Samuel Griswold was born in Norwich, Connecticut 16 September 1665, the son of Francis, the son of Edward Griswold. He first married Susannah Huntington 10 December 1685; they had eight children. They lived at Norwich, Connecticut. Susannah died in 1727, and he married second Hannah Backus. (She was the widow of Sgt. Thomas Bingham, and then of Daniel Tracy.)
His cemetery inscription reads, "Here lies interred ye remains of Capt. Samuel Griswold, the first Captain of the 2nd Company of train bands in Norwich. He was born in Norwich, Sept. 1665, and died on ye 9th day of Dec. 1740, in the 75th year of his age.
