Sarah Elizabeth Nix was born 12 February 1869 in Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia to Thomas Nix (1820-1909) and Elizabeth Curtis (c1825-1872) and died 17 June 1943 Stroud Road, Dungog, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. She married John Robert Bowden (1864-1955) 1887 in New South Wales.

Obituary
The late Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Bowden, whose death was reported in last issue, was aged 74 years and was born at Mill Creek, Stroud. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Nix. Her sister, Mrs. C. Burns, Willoughby, is the only surviving member of the family. The late Mrs. Bowden reared a large family, as follows:—Mrs. J. Newton (Wauchope, deceased), Mrs. Parish (Stroud Road), Mrs. H. Dark (Dungog), Mrs. W. Cox (Taree), Mrs. F. Clapson (Blakehurst), Mrs. R. Green (Morpeth), Mrs. M. Hirst (Sans Souci), Messrs. Leslie (Castle Hills), Claud (Dorrigo), Cecil (Muswellbrook), Cliff (Kempsey). There are 34 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The late Mrs. Bowden passed away suddenly. She was a wonderful mother and a valuable citizen. Her nature was kind and gentle, and she spoke nothing else but good of anyone. Her husband is at present in hospital. To him she was a most devoted wife. The funeral on Saturday last was large and representative. Rev. A. J. Dempsey officiated. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. Fleming and Payne, funeral directors. Deepest sympathy is extended to the sorrowing husband and members of the family.
