She married Thomas Watkins (1790-1867) 24 May 1819 in Sydney , New South Wales , Australia .
Sarah Lewis was born Sarah Conway to the convict woman Catherine Conway. Her father was not named.
Sarah was raised, however, being told that her father was the convict James Lewis. She took his surname and married as Sarah Lewis in 1819. James Lewis died in 1823. On her death record in 1886 James Lewis is named as her father, and her mother is "unknown".
It is not known what happened to her mother. Sarah's mother is not found in the musters or censuses for the Colony of New South Wales. It is therefore assumed that her mother was deceased before 1822.
