Biography
Sarah McClure Killian was born 31 October 1798 in Burke County, North Carolina, United States to Joseph Charles McClure (1772-1821) and Elizabeth Hopper (1774-1845) and died 18 December 1872 Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, United States of unspecified causes. She married John Killian (1796-1858) 28 August 1837 in Far West, Caldwell County, Missouri.
Sarah McClure and her family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lafayette County, Missouri and endured many of the hardships of mob persecution in 1830s Missouri. While 8 months pregnant, in Feb 1839, she and John and his 8 children were forced from their home in Caldwell County, Missouri (where he was the militia captain) and to flee to Illinois for safety.
